Toxicology programs use journal club as a key part of fellowship education and academic development. Reading the medical literature makes us better physicians. It sharpens our critical appraisal skills, and provides inspiration for further study. Each fellowship program has its own unique style of journal club. The National Journal Club, sponsored by ACMT, will help us to learn from each other’s experiences and to see and interpret the literature through the eyes of our colleagues, no matter where they are.
The National Journal Club is held every other month, and participation is limited to medical toxioclogy fellowship programs. Any fellowship participant is able to view the journal club online after its completion. A different fellowship program hosts each session. Prior to the session, the sponsoring institution prepares a brief outline of how they approach journal club, as well as the articles to be reviewed. Participation is through online webinar, and the conferences are recorded to allow for review at any time.
