William “Russ” Kerns, II, MD, FACMT, FACEP to Receive 2025 ACMT Career Achievement Award

ACMT is pleased to announce that William "Russ" Kerns, II, MD, FACMT, FACEP, will receive the 2025 ACMT Career Achievement Award and deliver the Career Achievement Address at the 2025 ACMT Annual Scientific Meeting in Vancouver, Canada, next April.

Dr. Kerns trained in emergency medicine and medical toxicology and served as professor in both disciplines at Carolinas Medical Center for 33 years. Faculty roles included leadership of the Medical Toxicology Fellowship and clinical division, consultation for the Carolinas Poison Center, and research. Research interests included antidotes, envenomation, and resuscitation of cardiotoxic drugs.

Dr. Kerns' contributions to the field of medical toxicology and to ACMT are many, as evidenced by the multiple nomination letters submitted for his award nomination. These letters reflected the impact Dr. Kerns has made throughout his career as clinician, mentor, researcher, and colleague. We are thrilled to honor Dr. Kerns at #ACMT2025 and look forward to his address during the program.
