PHOENIX, AZ—January 23, 2018 

ACMT’s 2018 Satellite Session, 'Toxic Threats, Chemical Security and Counterfeit  Pharmaceuticals' will be held on Thursday, April 5, at the Washington Marriott Georgetown in  Washington DC.  

The full-day symposium will begin with Fake Pharmaceuticals: Taking On a Multi-Billion Dollar,  World-Wide Illegal Industry, a presentation examining how raw ingredients from other countries masquerade as legitimate, diverted pharmaceuticals in the US. This will be followed by  additional expert speakers from Pfizer, the US Department of Homeland Security, state police, and ACMT medical toxicologists. 

The second part of the symposium will focus on toxic threats and chemical security. The agenda includes discussions on chemical threats, toxic industrial chemicals, planning a large-scale chemical response, access to reliable information, and new and developing medical countermeasures and antidotes. Presentations will also include challenges of fentanyl and fentanyl analog exposures, management in cyanide poisoning, bystander reactions to chemical incidents, and decontamination protocols.  

These presentations will feature prominent medical toxicologists, academics, and representatives from the US Department of Homeland Security, DEA, FDA, NIH, US Coast Guard, and ACMT  members.
