Hello friends and colleagues,

Thank you for the welcoming encouragement as I started my term as President of ACMT at the Virtual Annual Scientific Meeting. It has been humbling to be a part of this fantastic organization which has continued to grow and progress in advancing our mission.  ACMT has continued to expand virtual educational offerings and provide more valuable resources to our members. I would like to highlight the following:

1. The ANTIDOTE Institute, jointly sponsored by ACMT, the ToxInnovation Lab (UMASS), and the Chai Lab (Harvard Medical School) has announced its first class of 2021-2022. The ANTIDOTE Institute provides a one-year curriculum for fellows and junior faculty to begin to develop their own area of investigation, network with experienced investigators in the field, attend didactic instruction on how to develop a successful career in research.  Thank you to Stephanie Carreiro and Peter Chai for their generous leadership in developing the Institute which is sure to provide excellent instruction and mentorship.
    
2. A Medical Toxicology in Industry Fellow Rotation will be launched for fellows, in conjunction with the Medical Toxicology Foundation. This elective would provide fellows an in-depth curriculum regarding the role of medical toxicologists in the industrial setting and is accepting applications until October 10th. Thank you to Eliza Halcomb for her pioneering work on this exciting project.
    
3. The ACMT mentoring program between toxicologists has been updated to include more robust research-specific mentoring such as this list of NIH Funded Members.
    
4. Abstracts are now being accepted for the upcoming ASM which will feature a hybrid virtual/in-person format. Deadline for submission is Monday, November 15. Thank you to Diane Calello and Kurt Kleinschmidt and the planning committee, who have put together an excellent program.
    
5. I would like to thank the fantastic ACMT staff for keeping the organization not just running but flourishing. Welcome to the new staff members and I look forward to working with all of you.

We are in unsettling and unpredictable times and I know each of us has faced many new challenges in the past year. While many may feel disappointed that NACCT will be virtual this year, I understand and fully support this difficult decision. I hope each of you is taking care of yourselves and those whom you cherish.  I look forward to the day when we can meet again.
