The American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry Renews Grant for the ToxIC Novel Opioid and Stimulant Exposure Project
The Toxicology Investigators Consortium (ToxIC) has received a 2-year grant to continue its toxicosurveillance Novel Opioids and Stimulant Exposure (NOSE) project. This project utilizes the Core Registry infrastructure for reporting and in the last 2 years has led to eight educational briefs describing outbreaks of novel drugs of abuse. The NOSE project has been well received by the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP) and its Opioid Response Network (ORN).
ToxIC is excited to announce that the success of this project has led to a continuation with AAAP/ORN to learn more about novel opioid and stimulant cases identified through ToxIC over the next two years. Meghan Spyres, MD is leading this project and will continue to coordinate quarterly briefings and Tweetchats designed to describe these novel cases and disseminate this important information to ACMT members, and the ORN and their partners
