Year End Message from ACMT President, Anthony Pizon, MD, FACMT
Friends and Colleagues,
As we near the end of 2024, I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible strides we’ve made together this year.
Our 2024 Annual Scientific Meeting (#ACMT2024) was a tremendous success, with record-breaking attendance of 444 attendees! This speaks volumes about the strength of our community and the growing interest in advancing the field of medical toxicology.
This year our educational programming has continued to flourish. Our 2024 Board Review Course introducing a new format featuring a “flipped classroom” structure, early and extended access to lectures, and live, interactive cram sessions was a resounding success.
The Total Tox live virtual event this November saw an increase in registration compared to our 2022 offering, and attendees were thrilled with our new “Total Tox Collectible” cards featuring key topics and pearls to accompany the lectures. The on-demand module will be available soon. Keep an eye out for more communications regarding our exciting educational offerings in 2025, including the next installment of our Seminars in Forensic Toxicology, and much more!
We are proud to have been selected as one of the distinguished institutions included in the CDC National Partners Cooperative Agreement, demonstrating the value of our expertise in public health initiatives. We also celebrated several important partnerships this year, including Bayer’s continued support for our Med Tox in Industry Fellows Rotation; a new partnership with Alnylam expanding industry opportunities for our members; and the new Carol Angle Pediatric Toxicology Travel Award, aimed at supporting the next generation of toxicologists in this critical area.
Our ongoing work with the Medical Toxicology Foundation (MTF) continues to be a source of pride, with the annual campaign driving important initiatives and funding that support our mission. Consider a tax-deductible gift to the MTF to make a meaningful impact on the future of medical toxicology education, research, and patient care. Beyond the annual campaign there are many other ways you can support the programs of the MTF. Learn about more ways to give here.
This year has been a testament to the strength and dedication of our members, and I am deeply grateful for your continued commitment to advancing the field of medical toxicology. As we look to 2025, I’m confident that we will continue to build on these successes and make an even greater impact on patient care.
We look forward to seeing you next April in Vancouver at #ACMT2025. There will be many great opportunities to network with colleagues, engage with innovative research, and explore a wide scope of topics in medical toxicology. In addition to the main meeting April 4-6, for the first time we will offer three pre-meeting activities.
We will kick off the program with AACT’s Symposium, “Thalli--Ummmm, Was This a Murder?” on Wednesday, April 2. On Thursday, April 3rd we’ll offer both the ACMT Symposium, “Harm Reduction in the Treatment Of Substance Use Disorder,” and ACMT’s “Occupational & Environmental Toxicology Boot Camp.” Great reasons to come early, and stay late with us in Vancouver! Register before February 21 to take advantage of the early bird discount rate!
Thank you for all you do, and I look forward to another successful year together!
