Marsha Ford, MD, FACMT MTF Board Member
Biography
Dr. Marsha Ford, now retired, has had a long and distinguished career during which she held many progressive roles over 30 years with the Carolinas Healthcare System and Department of Emergency Medicine, University of North Carolina Chapel Hill School of Medicine. She also spent many years with the Carolinas Poison Center and served as its Director for 17 years.
Dr. Ford was President of the American Association of Poison Control Centers from 2012 to 2014 and is Diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine. As a Director of the Medical Toxicology Foundation, she brings a wealth of experience and knowledge having also served on the boards of the North Carolina College of Emergency Physicians, American Association of Poison Control Centers (now the APC), the Medical Toxicology Sub Board and Editorial Board, Clinical Toxicology.
Education
Dr. Ford earned her MD from the Medical University of South Carolina College of Medicine and completed her Medical Toxicology Fellowship at Bellevue Hospital Center, University Hospital and New York City Poison Control Center in New York, NY. She did her residency at Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn, NY and also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy & Religion from Winthrop University in South Carolina.
